In the kitchen AND at the gym! There is this saying that is circulating that abs are made in the kitchen. I can agree to that to some extent, but you still have to clock in some gym time too. You see abs are like every other muscle in your body. You already have the muscles, you just have to lose the layers on top so that they can really show through. Some people seem to think that crunch after crunch and sit up after sit up will guarantee abs that peek through, but that is not the case. If you are looking to get a six pack or just some nice abdominal definition, you will need to follow a routine that includes the kitchen and the gym.
In the kitchen:
Your diet has a whole lot to do with how your body looks. I hate to tell you, but it is the truth, you pretty much are what you eat. Healthy lean meats and veggies should be the main staples in your diet. White carbohydrates are a definite no-no as they help keep the pounds on. A couple of servings of fruit can be beneficial especially before workouts with a protein. And skim dairy in moderation. Try to break up your meals into five to six smaller portions and you will feel full all day and stay energized for your workouts.
In the gym (or at home, wherever!):
So you are eating healthy and keeping enough food in your diet to keep your energy up for some workouts right? Well, let’s make some abs show then! Cardio is one of the most important aspects of lowering your body fat percentage and getting a body with definition. But doing just cardio alone is not going to give you those awesome results you are looking for. Make sure to incorporate strength training into your exercise routine at least three times a week. When you build up your muscle you burn more fat. Awesome, right? Keep in mind that you don’t have to spend lots of money on a gym membership to stay in shape, either! My dish network Chicago has TONS of early morning work out shows on schedule. Once I get the kids to the bus stop, I turn on the TV and get in a few quick workouts. It’s great!
So do not believe that all you have to do is eat right to sculpt a lean and defined body with abs, because you do have to put in some hard work to get it. The good news is that you can reach definitely reach your goals and look how you have always wanted. Just remember eating right and working hard need to be done in conjunction with one another to really make it happen.
